Starting today I’ll be featuring a series blog posts about Madina + Omkar’s spectacular, multi-day Muslim wedding photography and Indian wedding photography. There were so many amazing events, there is no way I could show it all in one blog post. Make sure to also check out their amazing engagement photo session which featured them with a horse & carriage as well as a Ferrari!
The first day began with preparations for both the bride and groom at their separate family homes. Once ready, Omkar and his family traveled over to the Madina’s family home. They were welcomed as they arrived by Madina’s family, and then escorted into their home.
The Muslim wedding ceremony (called a nikah) was held indoors. Madina + Omkar were kept away from each other until the marriage actually took place. Omkar and most family members were inside the main living room area while the Imam presided over the ceremony. Once the first part of the ceremony took place, Madina was met in another room by the Imam and the witnesses for her vows and her portion of the ceremony. Once her vows were completed, the Imam and witnesses went back to Omkar for his vows. Once his vows were completed, that was it – they were married! Omkar was then allowed to go over into the next room and see his new bride.
The two of them headed back into the main room of the house where everyone could finally give the new couple hugs and rejoice with them, and Omkar could also give Madina a ring. They were then able to enjoy blessings from their families as well as traditional celebration sweets, and later a celebratory meal.
Such a beautiful day for Madina + Omkar! I’m so happy I could be present for their Muslim wedding photography. Please watch for the next few blog posts about the other days of their beautiful wedding celebration, including their Hindu wedding celebration, Saint Paul Hotel wedding reception, and gorgeous Como Park wedding portraits.
